LacLu is a new creative project featuring Francesca Parussini on saxophone, Keith Price on guitar, and Maximilian Crook on drums. Formed at the University of Auckland jazz program, where Price is a lecturer and Parussini and Crook are students, the group explores improvisation and freedom in music-making on original compositions as well as de-constructed familiar tunes. Stylistically inspired by the legendary trio of Bill Frisell, Joe Lovano, and Paul Motian, Laclu’s collective approach focuses on emotion, aesthetic and sonic texture. Their debut recording will be released soon on Rattle Records NZ.
